Good News It is a beautiful day in San Antonio and we are getting ready to leave for Abilene to see my sister in law, Liz, graduate. Lots of good things are happening to our family. I had a CT scan yesterday and the radiologist found NO signs of cancer in my chest, abdomen or pelvis. (there had been growth in the liver and scar tissue from previous lesions in previous scans) Great news at a great time. ( Now if my MRI of the brain in January will yield the same results.) Since i will be off treatments for another three to four weeks i feel really confident about it. I am sure we will resume when we return because that is why it is not growing. It makes the no hair, dark eyes, weight gain, tired days, and painful toenails and fingernails all worth while. Thank you God for such great timing. A China packing update... there is a path in our bedroom. We have a section of clothes for Abiline this weekend, a section for China (that is growing larger!) and a section of Christmas wrapping items. This makes for quite an obstacle course for someone who has to get out of bed a number of times a night! It is great though and we are 6 days to take off.

Where we go from here
On Dec. 18 at about 5pm we will board a plane in San Antonio and head east. Sometime Friday afternoon, Dec. 20 we will be at the Holiday Inn Jindu Hotel in Beijing China. We setup a yahoo group to keep everyone updated while we are gone. Go to groups.yahoo.com/group/jadentrip and join the group to get the updates from China.
Are itinerary looks something like this:
12/20 Arrive Beijing
12/21 Tour Forbidden City, Tian An Men Square and Great Wall
12/22 Fly to Lanzhou, meet Jaden @ 5PM at Savoy Lanzhou Hotel
12/23 Adoption paperwork at Civil Affairs office and Notary
12/24 Christmas Eve, rest and relax
12/25 Christmas in Lanzhou, tour of city
12/26 more touring
12/27 Pickup Jaden's passport
12/28 Fly to Guangzhou
12/29 Tour of Guangzhou, Chen Families Temple and Six Banyan Tree Temple
12/30 9AM interview at the American Consulate
12/31 Pickup Jaden's Visa
1/1 Happy New Year! Leave Guangzhou for the USA
Here are some pictures of Lanzhou (mountains on the way from the airport and people in the city for early morning exercise...I don't think we will see them doing this in 30°F weather but maybe so..)
Dori will probably not like me sharing this but sometimes you just got to get things off your chest.
Last night we played a huge round of "what if" with all the big questions we are facing right now. For example, what if..
Dori's disability claim is denied..
we can't sell the Yukon..
we can't pay the property taxes in January
I lost my job..
etc. etc. etc.
All things out of our control and not worth even worrying about. But Dori worries anyway and makes an already stressful time of year and time in our lives even more so. In the end we got it all out there and I think we both feel better. Change is certainly comming and we will do what we need to do. Everything will be all right. We decided that no matter what as long as we had each other and our kids and family that we would be very happy together.
I think the final question for the "what if" game is this: "What if Dori and I are sitting on the shores of Lake LBJ one day watching our grandkids play in the lake and we think back to how silly we were to worry so much way back in 2003?"
