Quick Update

I went to see Dori this morning and I have to admit it was a tough visit. Because of her low white cell count they had her "quarantined" so that I had to wear a mask while I was in the room and she could not have any fresh fruit or veggies. And she was still tired and ached all over. So I left not feeling real good.

At lunch I went back and Dori was a completely different person. Her counts were up so that I didn't have to wear the mask and she was going to get salad at lunch. She had just finshed a shower and had clean sheets. So things really are looking good. Her fever was also gone and she was feeling much improved. What a difference just a few hours had made. So, I'm feeling much better and I really think Dori will be home tomorrow-she may even try to talk the doctor into letting her leave today but I think he will let her counts get a bit higher and her strength to come back a bit more.

BTW, I'm really touched by the 'lurkers' out there who have emailed. It's nice to know that we are not alone and that people are thinking of us. God bless you all, hopefully we will have some good pictures of Mother's Day to share.

Hospital

This afternoon Dori and her Doc decided she should go in to the hospital for a short stay. Her fever was back up to 102 and she still has no energy at all and to top it off she was throwing up too. So the hope is to figure out the source of the fever and get her energy back. Her white cell count was real low so they will work on that too. They were going to do lots of tests late today so hopefully we will know more tomorrow. It is real frustrating that she hasn't made any progress for the last week. I really thoought the antibiotics would o the trick. Anyway, we're frustrated and tired but the good news is that when Dori has gone in to the hospital before they have been able to get her well and back home pretty fast.

rough weekend
Dori was not feeling good at all the whole weekend. She stayed in bed most of the day, moving to the couch after lunch. She did go to a little party with me Sat. night but didn't really feel good there either so we left early. Sunday morning she managed to make it through Sunday school and then it was back to bad for most of the day. Today she went to see the doc and is on some antibiotics and seems to feel better tonight. Of course we have had lots of help and support as usual. Tomorrow whould be better as we hope she can keep improving as the meds kick in. It has been uncharictaristically cold the last few nights in San Antonio. Maybe some hot weather will get Dori's blood flowing and her strength back. Forecast is for hot weather the rest of the week!
