catching up wow, it has been forever. My good friend keeps reminding me to blog, so this is for you, Sally, now go to Laredo with you husband and enjoy the entire weekend no matter what your kids say! It is usually a good sign when i have not updated as life has been pretty good. We were thrown a little twist. i have been expereiencing a red rash around my back, midsection and chest. It has been there for a few months (since my hospital stays) so i did not think much of it, assuming it was some reaction to all the antibiotics. It does not itch or hurt so i did not pay it much attention. One day in September I had gone into my surgeon for him to follow up on my medi-port placement and he saw it and wanted to biopsy it. Sure enough the skin plug showed breast cancer cells. It is a cutaneous metastisis. The cancer has spread to the skin. Totally new concept to me. My doctor has a few other patients it has also happened to so I am not a one of a kind!. It is like any other met in that it has a blood supply and can shrink or spread. What does it all mean? not much. It should give us a good indication as to what is going on inside without having to run so many tests. We are still doing the drug cpt11 that we had tried to start in May before my numerous hospital stays. This drugs signature side effect is the runs. ( I will save those stories for another day! ) In November it will be three months on this drug and we will run some tests to see how things are on the inside. i am not sure how long my body can tolerate the cpt so my doctor is checking into other drug options. The good news is i have lost weight but i would not recommend this method to anyone! My hair seems to be sticking around for now, so i am enjoying that! will do my best to keep up my blog in the future!
