back on the hard stuff!
Had chemo today. Back on the hard stuff. Dr. Kapoor was willing to give me off another week but i was hoping for a week or two off in November for a family wedding and Thanksgiving. So we are pushing for the next couple of weeks. i did get the max dose of the anti runs meds. I left the office, five shots later, in high hopes that we will ward off the extra trips to the potty. Kapoor also told me take two immodium every two hours starting when i wake in the morning. If all this does not work, i don't think anything will! It is so nice to come home to my loving family. Even the two year old hugs me and ask "Dr. Poor make you all better mommy?" "Yes, honey i have another day to spend with you, let's have a cookie to celebrate!" Dr. Kapoor is checking on another drug called Avastin. It has proven effective in other metastic diseases but not breast cancer yet. Because it has not been proven effective he has to really push to get it passed the insurance people. Time and tests will tell what happens. It is another protien antibody which mean it has few side effects while eliminating the blood supply to exsisting tumor sites. It is most effective when done in conjunction with a chemo(yuck) agent to kill all the loose cells before they can make new tumors...sounds so simple. i wonder if those cancer cells read the brochure and are following the directions!?!? We took a week off of the chemo to let my body heal from a week straight of the runs. You can only imagine what my body is going through. I had two shots and a prescription drug stronger than immodium (which i was popping two every two hours) and still i am fighting the urge to run to the potty! I am feeling better in that i have more energy. i am looking forward to attending my brother-in-laws wedding in November in Las Vegas. I will be taking another chemo holiday then. Gearing up for the Halloween weekend. My kids are very excited.
